Orlando, Fla. – The Macalester College men's tennis team played St. Thomas University (Fla.) this morning down in Orlando, Fla. as part of their spring trip. The Division II team came out swinging and the Scots fell 7-0. The Scots are now 3-3 (1-0 MIAC).
At doubles, senior
Alexander Poland (Madison, Wis./Madison West) and first year
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) paired at No. 3 doubles for the closest match. Poland and Lynch fought to win four sets in the 6-4 loss. First years
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) and
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani), combined at No. 2 doubles, but fell 6-2. The Bobcats also won at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 singles, Doi made it hard on his Division II opponent. After fall 6-1 in the first set, Doi kept the second set close, falling 7-5. Junior
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) also registered a few set wins, falling 6-1 and 6-3 at No. 3 singles. The Bobcats also took first, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles.
The Scots' next dual sees them take on Stevenson University in Orlando, Fla. on March 15 at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
