Fargo, N.D. – The Macalester College women's tennis team started MIAC play this afternoon against Concordia. The Scots took the victory, 6-3 and are now 2-0 (1-0 MIAC).
Sophomores
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) won a hard-fought battle at No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Juniors
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) and
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) partnered at No. 2 doubles and beat their opponents 8-3. Sophomore
Talia Chait (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) and first year
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) came close in their match, losing a tough match 8-6.
Reynolds and Ulrich each won their singles matches in straight sets. Sorajja was victorious at No. 1 singles after losing the first set to come back to win the next two 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker, and 10-3. Munster also earned a hard-fought win at No. 4 singles, going 6-1, 5-7, and 10-5 in three sets.
The Scots will return to action on February 26 at 3:30 p.m. where they will take on the Norse of Luther College.
