ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College sophomore
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill) was named the MIAC Athlete of the Week for men's swimming for the week ending Oct. 23, the conference announced today. Batsaikhan won two individual events at the Scots' season-opening dual meet with Luther on Saturday.
Batsaikhan was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.59. Later in the meet, he won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.12. Both times are the fastest in the MIAC so far this season. Along with first years

Kynan DeSouza-Chen (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) and sophomore
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood), Batsaikhan helped the 200-yard medley relay team finish second with a time of 1:41.15.
Last season Batsaikhan placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke at the MIAC Championships with a school-record time of 2:09.14 to earn All-MIAC honors. He also set the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.84) and swam on the Scots' school-record 200- and 400-yard medley relays last year.
Macalester hosts Saint John's University next Saturday, Oct. 29 in a dual meet. The meet starts at 1:00 p.m. at Riley Pool.
