River Falls, Wis. – The Macalester College women's soccer team played its third game of the 2021 fall campaign in a non-conference match against UW-River Falls on Wednesday September 8 in River Falls, Wis., beating the Falcons 1-0.
The game seemed to belong to the Scots, who out-shot the Falcons 18 to 4. In the first half, sophomore
Ella Thomsen (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto) had two of her three shots saved by UW- River Falls goalkeeper Kaylie Krueger. Juniors
Abby Ecker (Portland, OR/Saint Mary's Academy) and
Lucy Grochulska (Henrico, VA/Henrico) each got off two shots this half, as well as senior
Alice Bieda (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North).
The Scots continued their attack on the Falcons in the second half, putting pressure and creating an abundance of opportunities. However, it wasn't until the 84
th minute when junior
Julia Kispert (Atherton, CA/Menlo-Atherton) put the ball into the back of the net and put the Scots ahead.
The Scots look to keep this positive momentum moving forward in their season. Macalester now has a record of 2-0-1. Their next game will be Wednesday, Sept. 15, against Concordia College (Minn.) at Macalester Stadium.
