St. Paul, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team played its first home game of the season hosting Concordia College (Minn.) This is the first conference game for Scots as well. The Scots took a 1-0 victory against the Cobbers, staying undefeated. The Scots' record is now 3-0-1 (1-0-0 in conference).
The Scots took an early opportunity in the second minute of the game. Senior
Hannah Conner (Madison, Wis./Madison West) assisted senior
Carolyn Eckstein (Bryn Mawr, PA./Radnor) to give the Scots a 1-0 lead. Macalester kept that momentum throughout the half, creating four shots on Cobbers goalkeeper, Breanna Nelson.
The Scots continued to create opportunities for themselves in the second half. Junior
Abby Ecker (Portland, OR./St. Mary's Academy) created multiple opportunities for herself in front of the net. Senior
Alice Bieda (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and junior
Sarah Hamilton (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka) also proved to be attacking forces for the Scots.
The Scots look to continue their winning ways in their next match. A non-conference game against UW-Stout in Menomonie, Wis. Kickoff will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18.
