Waverly, Iowa – Playing their third game of the fall season, the Macalester College men's soccer team traveled to Waverly, Iowa to take on the Knights of Wartburg College in a non-conference game. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Scots fell to the Knights 2-0.
The Scots were heavy on the offense in the first half, registering five shots. However, it was Wartburg's Jack Palen who's scored the first goal of the game in the 22
nd minute. First year
Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./Benet Academy) and junior
Silas Southworth (Lancaster, N.H./White Mountains Regional) both had shots on target that were saved by the Knights' goalkeeper, Brennon Woody.

rd minute when Yushin Gossin doubled the Knights' lead. Despite attempts from seniors
Will Orser (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial) and
Rohit Shah (Sunnyvale, CA/Harker School) the Scots could not overcome the deficit.
The Scots now have a season record of (1-2) and look to come back stronger. The team's next game will be Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. against #19 University of Chicago. The game will be located at Macalester Stadium.
