La CROSSE, Wis. – The Macalester College volleyball team dropped a non-conference atch at UW-La Crosse, 25-21, 25-13, 25-17 Friday night at Mitchell Hall. The Scots are now 9-5 overall, while the Eagles, who received votes in the latest AVCA national top 25 poll, improve to 13-2.
The first set was close, with Macalester trailing 16-15 and later 23-20 before UW-La Crosse won the set, 25-21. The Scots struggled to stop the Eagles' potent attack, especially in the final two sets that saw the hosts total 29 kills and a .281 hitting percentage. Offensively, Macalester managed just 20 kills and hit .043 for the match.

Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) led the Scots with eight kills and first year
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) added seven kills. First year
Nicole Norton (Brussels, Wis./Southern Door) delivered 20 assists, while King and first years
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/YES Prep Northbrook) and
Jill MacInnis (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) each had eight digs to pace the defense. The Eagles' Emma Lawrence tallied a match-high 11 kills.
Macalester hosts UW-Stout in a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 25. The first serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
