St. Paul, Minn.- The Macalester College baseball team dropped game one to MIAC conference foe University of St. Thomas. The Scots fell to the Tommies by a score of 5-0 despite both teams having five hits. Game two of the double-header has been postponed until a later date; St. Thomas led the Scots 5-2 after four innings of play. Macalester falls to 2-2 (2-2MIAC) on the season while St. Thomas improves to 9-3 (4-0 MIAC).
Sophomore
Joe Margolis (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) led the game off with a double to right field. The next three batters were unable to reach base and the Scots stranded a runner. Sophomore
Thomas Windels (New York, N.Y./Episcopal) was able to shut the Tommies down in the first inning by not giving up any hits.
St. Thomas scored two runs after Macalester batters went down in order. Kyle Halverson of the Tommies drew a walk and quickly stole second base. Avery Lehman advanced Halverson to third on a bunt for a hit. The Tommies then scored on a sacrifice fly and later scored again before hitting into an inning ending double play.
St. Thomas added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning to give the Tommies a 5-0 lead. St. Thomas pitcher Duke Coborn pitched the complete game shut-out for the Tommies while Windels took the loss after throwing five innings and giving up three runs.

Margolis started game two off with a single to left field, stole second base and advanced to third on a balk from the Tommies pitcher. Senior
Leonardo Bucello (Bethesda, MD./Walter Johnson) then picked up a RBI on a groundout to the shortstop to give the Scots a 1-0 lead.
St. Thomas picked up all five of their runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-1 lead. Moreno walked to start the fourth inning and Rodriguez singled to right field to move Moreno to second base with no outs. Rodriguez stole second while Moreno was thrown out at third on the double steal attempt. Junior
Lian Lincoln (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) singled to bring Rodriguez in which cut the Scots deficit to 5-2 before going into a weather delay.
The Scots and Tommies are looking to make up game two by the end of this week.
