Volleyball: Macalester Ends Season with Loss at St. Kate’s

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team concluded its best season in 15 years with a conference loss at St. Catherine University Saturday evening in the Butler Center. The Scots, who lost by scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-17, end the season 13-12 overall and 4-7 in the conference, while the Wildcats improve to 12-13, 5-6 MIAC.

Macalester's record of 13-12 is the program's first winning record since the 2006 squad finished 12-11. The 4-7 mark in MIAC play is the Scots' best since the 2013 team also went 4-7.

Junior Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) and first year Gwen Wooten (Allen, Texas/Allen) each had five kills, while junior Emily Drexler (Portland, Ore./Roosevelt) delivered 11 assists. King also paced the defense with 14 digs. Lexie Petrick and Maggie Rosen had nine kills apiece to lead the Wildcats.

The match also was the final competition for seniors Elyssa Cook (Cassel, Calif./Fall River), Claire Loomans (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) and Claire Wilson (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest). The Scots will return 17 players next fall.
