St. Peter, Minn. – Macalester College women's soccer team finished out their 2021 campaign with a trip to St. Peter, Minn. to play Gustavus Adolphus. Despite their efforts, the Scots lost 1-0, and ended their season with a record of 10-6-2 (4-6-1 MIAC).
In the first half, the Scots put the pressure on early. Junior
Celia Lesmeister (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) had her shot saved in the sixth minute. Fellow junior
Sarah Hamilton (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka) took a chance in the ninth minute. At the end of the half, junior
Lily Lorenzen (San Francisco, Calif./Urban School of San Francisco) had her shot saved, keeping the score line at zero.
The Scots put up a battle in the second half. However, in the 64
th minute, the Gusties put in a goal against the Scots. Macalester never gave up. Senior goalkeeper
Dana Gustafson (Ames, Iowa/Ames) made three saves in the second half, four total.
The Scots unfortunately could not pull a goal back and ended the game with a loss. This season marked the first time since 2015, that Macalester has registered 10 wins on the overall season.
