St. Peter, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team ended its regular fall season campaign with a road contest against fellow MIAC member, Gustavus Adolphus. It was a tough battle, but the Gusties beat the Scots 3-0. The Scots end the regular season with a record of 8-8-1 (5-4-1 MIAC).
The Scots were in for a battle from the whistle. In the 11
th minute, Alexander Krumenauer put one into Macalester's net. In response, sophomore
Howard Henderson (Minneapolis, Minn./Blake School) forced Gustavus' goalkeeper to make a save. Yet, in the 22
nd and 24
th minutes, the Gusties put two more in the net, giving them a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, the Scots continued to battle, however the Gusties lead in the first half proved to be too much to overcome. Senior
Cade Fink (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) and first year
Sam Price (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) split time in goal for the Scots, each registering six saves.
The Scots now look forward to Monday, Nov. 1, as they enter into the MIAC Playoffs. Macalester will travel to Minneapolis to play Augsburg.
