ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team defeated Knox College, 8-3, and Lawrence University, 11-3, in a pair of games at the Rochester Dome on Saturday. All 18 players contributed to the wins for the Scots, who are now 3-1 on the season.
In an 8-3 victory over Knox, senior 
Julia Carpenter (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore) went 4-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs, including the first run of the game on a grounder by first year 
Regan Brodine (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) in the bottom of the first inning. In the second inning, first year 
Joia Simonson (Pardeeville, Wis./Portage) singled home senior 
Kaeden Jackson (Seattle, Wash./James A. Garfield) before junior 
Kennedy Kechely (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) hit a three-run double to give Macalester a 5-0 lead. Knox scored three runs in the top of the fifth to make the score 5-3, only to have sophomore 
Emily Bergin (Houston, Texas/St. Thomas Episcopal School) deliver a two-out, two-run single to push the Scots' lead to four, 7-3. Carpenter singled, stole second, advanced to third on a grounder and scored on a grounder by sophomore 
Claire McHenry (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Academy) in the bottom of the sixth.
Junior 
Audrey Meade (Cedar Hills, Utah/Pleasant Grove) did not allow a hit while striking out six and walking one in five innings of work. Meade tossed a seven-inning no-hitter in her first outing of the season against Blackburn on Feb. 28. Junior 
Anya Lindell Paulson (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) pitched two innings and gave up three runs on two hits. Bergin, Simonson and first year 
Jessica Katzin (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) each had two hits, while Kechely drove in three runs.
Against Lawrence, Macalester registered 13 hits in an 11-3 victory. Carpenter came home on an error and sophomore 
Mackenzie Clarke (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) plated Kechely with a single in the top of the first to give the Scots a 2-0 lead.  The score remained 2-0 until the top of the fifth inning, when Macalester scored four times on four hits to lead 6-0. Brodine, Bergin and Meade drove in runs in the inning. After the Vikings scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, Carpenter scored from third on a wild pitch and Brodine hit a two-run single in the top of the sixth for a 9-2 lead. In the top of the seventh, Jackson doubled to score seniors 
Elena Youngdale (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and 
Kai Perket (San Diego, Calif./Francis W. Parker School) to make the score 11-2. Lawrence scored a run in the bottom of the seventh, but sophomore 
Anna Leidner (New York, N.Y./Bronx Science) induced a groundout to first to end the game.
Simonson earned her first collegiate victory, giving up two unearned runs on four hits while striking out five and walking two in six innings. Brodine went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Carpenter and Bergin recorded two hits apiece.
The Scots play UW-Eau Claire at noon and Ripon College at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 8 at the Rochester Dome.
