LAKEVILLE, Minn.- The Macalester College men's tennis team opened up their season with a split squad sweep over St. Scholastica and Martin Luther. The Scots took down St. Scholastica 8-1 and Martin Luther 9-0 to sweep the day and move to 2-0 (0-0 MIAC).

The Scots took two doubles matches from the Saints
. Sophomore
Jeffrey Jorgensen Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) and first year
Josh Marine (Honolulu, Hawaii/Summit) beat Anton Sopin and Jake Jolowski 8-5. First year
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) and junior
Ben White Parkersburg, W. Va./Analy) also won 8-5 over Jack Kearney and Duke Nguyen.
In singles matches, junior
Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./ Maple Grove), Jorgensen, and Sullivan won their matches in three sets. Sophomore
Karsten Knutsen Minneapolis, Minn./Riverfield Country Day (Okla.), White, and first year
Anton Korolev (Moscow, Russia/ Weilwon) their matches in two sets.

Alexander Hamann Lincoln, Neb./ Lincoln) won their match 8-1. First year
Sawyer Michaelson (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) and sophomore
Sun Tun (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central) edged their opponents 8-7.
Lockhart, Toner-Rodgers, Steinke, Hamman, Michaelson, and Tun all won their singles matches in two straight sets while shutting their opponents out in at least one set.
The Scots will be back in the Leonard Center Saturday, February 15 to compete against Crown College. The matches will start at 3:30 p.m.
