WINONA, Minn.- The Macalester College women's tennis team fell in a close road match to Saint Mary's University by a score of 5-4. The Scots are now 2-1 (0-1 MIAC) while SMU improves to 5-2 (1-2 MIAC).
In doubles play, junior
Laurel Hickey (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and junior
Emma Baker (Bentonville, Ark./Bentonville) defeated their opponents 8-4 in the No. 2 slot.
No. 1 Hickey also won her singles match in two sets by a score of (6-0) and (6-3). First year
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) held down the No. 3 spot with a (6-2) and (6-0) win over her opponent to remain undefeated in singles play on the young season. No. 5
Baker
also won her match in two sets to stay undefeated in singles on the season. Baker took down Kailee Johnson (6-1) and (6-3).
The Scots resume MIAC play Feb. 28, against the University of St. Thomas. The match is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
