Men's Tennis: Scots Beat St. Thomas

LAKEVILLE, Minn.- The Macalester men's tennis team finished the regular season with a win over the University of St. Thomas. The Scots beat the Tommies 6-3.

In singles, No.1 sophomore Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) won 6-1, 6-1. In the second spot, first year Jeffrey Jorgensen (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) also beat his opponent 6-1, 6-1. Then No. 4 singles first year Karsten Knutsen (Minneapolis, Minn./Riverfield Country Day) won 6-3, 6-4. Finally, senior Peter Willenborg (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) beat his opponent 6-0, 6-3.

Hochberger and sophomore Ben White (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South) combined to win 8-2. Jorgensen and first year Alexander Poland (Madison, Wis./Madison West) won 8-5.

The Scots' playoff hopes will be determined tomorrow after the completion of several matches around the MIAC.
