EAU CLAIRE, Wis.- The Macalester College women's soccer team lost to the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire today 4-1 in their second non-conference game of the season.

The Scots were tested early as sophomore keeper Anya Lindell Paulson (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) made a save before the first minute of the half was even over. Paulson had a season high of four saves by the end of the night.

However, Macalester fell behind quickly to the Blugolds as Eau Claire scored in the sixth minute of the first half. First year Zoe Kross (Queen Creek, Ariz./Basha) forced the Eau Claire keeper to make a save in the 15th minute after a corner from junior Elizabeth Han (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale).

The Scots held fast in the back until just the end of the half when Eau Claire went up 2-0 in the 38th minute.

In the second half, the Scots caught a break after the Blugolds sent a penalty kick wide left five minutes into the half. But in the 67th minute Eau Claire found their way into the back of the Scots' net, up 3-0.

Macalester pulled one back with a goal by firs year Carolyn Eckstein (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) who scored her first goal as a Scot with twenty minutes left in the game.The Blugolds answered with a goal less than a minute after Eckstein's score and at 4-1 the Scots would finish the night with a loss.

The Scots will return Saturday., Sept. 8, away to Luther College at 2:00 p.m. in Decorah, Iowa.
