ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's soccer team tied Concordia College Moorhead at home today 1-1 in double overtime.
The game remained scoreless with only three shots total taken by both sides combined after 25 minutes played. But in the 26th minute the Scots were fouled on the 20 yard line, just outside the Concordia box. Junior
Elizabeth Han (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale) stepped up and took the free kick, forcefully placing it in the Cobber's top left corner. With her first goal of the season the Scots went up 1-0 over Concordia.
The game remained in the Scots favor for the rest of the first half. The second half saw the Scots and Cobbers each have chances on the offensive ends but the Cobbers were the ones who capitalized when they scored an unassisted goal of a corner in the 66th minute.
The game went to overtime after neither team could break the deadlock and remained so through two extra periods to end 1-1. Sophomore keeper
Kate Lawhead (Battle Ground, Wash./Prairie) had a total of seven saves to keep the Scots in the game.
The Scots will return away Saturday., Sept. 29, to face the University of St. Thomas at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
