MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team defeated St. Olaf College 7-2 today to continue their four-match win streak in the MIAC. The Scots are now 6-0 in the MIAC and 9-4 on the season.
In singles, Macalester swept the Oles as No. 1 singles
Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) won a close three-setter against Christian Beck Hunter Fernelius 6-4, 1-6, 10-7. Hochberger is now 5-1 in MIAC play.
No. 5 singles
Matthew Yang (Bethesda, Md./ Walt Whitman) also won in three sets against Christopher Prokosch. No. 2 singles
Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) beat Danny Hogan 6-1, 6-3. No. 3 singles
Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais), No. 4 singles
Ben White (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg South) and No. 6
Peter Willenborg (Storrs, Conn./ E.O. Smith) also won in straight sets.
In doubles, Tirpack and White won 8-4 for the Scots.
Macalester returns to action on Sat., April 21 against Saint John's at 10:00 a.m.
