NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College men's basketball team fell to Carleton College, 94-58 in a MIAC game Saturday afternoon at Carleton's West Gym. The Scots drop to 2-18 overall and 1-14 in the conference, while the Knights improve to 12-8, 10-5 MIAC.
With the game tied at 10-10 five minutes into the first half, Carleton took control of the game with a 35-7 run over the next 12 minutes for a commanding 45-17 advantage. Macalester shot 25.0 percent while turning the ball over 13 times before halftime to trail 51-24 at the break. First year forward
Jackson Henningfield (Lake Mary, Fla./Lyman) provided a bright spot for the Scots with nine points in the first half.
In the second half Macalester was outscored, 43-34 and hit 15-of-21 from the line, but Carleton pulled away to complete the season sweep. Henningfield finished with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field to go with four blocks. First year guard
Gabriel Ramos (Dorado, Puerto Rico/Tasis Dorado) added nine points. Carleton's Kevin Grow led all players with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Macalester returns home to face Hamline University on Monday, Feb. 5, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
