MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- The Macalester College women's soccer team lost to Augsburg University tonight 1-0. With this MIAC lost the Scots now have four conference games left in the season.

The Scots held strong defensively in the first half with Augsburg getting seven shots off in the first 20 minutes of the game, three of which forced sophomore Kayla Togneri (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) to make saves.

Macalester then had their first close chance as sophomore Kate Bond (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) struck the Auggies cross bar. Bond's shot was immediately followed by a strike by junior Elizabeth Han (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale ) which was saved by the Augsburg keeper.

But the Scots went down just five minutes later as the Auggies scored in the 26th minute. The two teams went into half with the game still at 1-0.

In the second half, Macalester continued to have a solid defensive night as the Auggies totaled 21 shots by the end of the night but the scored remained 1-0. Tagneri had a season team high of 10 saves. Bond had the Scots only second half offensive strike but Macalester was unable to make a come back and lost 1-0.

The Scots return home to play the University of Wisconsin - Superior on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
