ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College men's soccer team beat the St. Olaf Oles in overtime 2-1. The Scots remain second in the MIAC with one game at hand to the leaders Gustavus.

In the first half, the Scots outshot the Oles 6-3. Macalester forced the St. Olaf keeper to make two saves including one in the 45th minute when first year Omar Anwar (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) struck one at the Oles goal. But the teams went into the half tied at zeros.

In the second half the play became physical with both teams shown yellows, the Oles seeing two, in the first five minutes of the half. Then in the 52nd minute, junior Nick Moore (Georgetown, Mass./St. Mark's School) received the ball in in the center of the St. Olaf half and dribbled through to the 20 yard line where he lifted a floating shot over the Oles keeper. His first goal of the year, sent the Scots into a 1-0 lead.

Physical play continued, with one more yellow card and several fouls seen. And in the 58th minute St. Olaf snuck a header snuck into senior keeper Colton Wening's (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) near corner off a St. Olaf corner.

Tied 1-1, neither team could find a way to take the lead for the remainder of the half and the game headed into overtime.

With less than three minutes left in the first overtime period senior Logan Harper (Westwood, Mass./St.Mark's School) crossed the ball from the left flank, saw it skip through the box to be flicked into the goal by sophomore Robert Anigbogu (St. Paul, Minn./North St. Paul) pas the Ole keeper.
