Men's Soccer: Scots Tie Saints In Non-Conference Match

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College men's soccer team tied the College of St. Scholastica in the Scots final non-conference match of the season.

While dominating the shot count during the first, with nearly double the Saints attempts, Macalester was not able to capitalize until the last minute of the half. Thanks to a St. Scholastica turnover in their own box, junior Chris Bajek (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West) scored his first goal of the season, intercepting the Saints defensive passing and slotting the ball into the left side of the net with twenty seconds left on the clock. The teams went into the half with the Scots up 1-0.

The Scots kept the offensive pressure up in the second half but were not able to score anymore goals to seal the win. And in the 12 minute of the game the Scots allowed the Saints to score an equalizer. Macalester could not finish the game off in regular time and the teams went into overtime.

The first period of overtime saw no goals and the second overtime ended the same, with the Saints and Macalester tying 1-1.

Macalester stays at home Saturday, Oct. 20 to Saint Mary's at 4:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
