ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's basketball team lost a MIAC game to Gustavus Adolphus College, 98-79 at home Monday evening in the Leonard Center. The Scots are now 1-11 overall and 0-7 in league play, while the Gusties improve to 8-5, 6-2 MIAC.
Gustavus used a 15-5 run to build a 35-21 lead with 7:50 remaining in the first half. With the Gusties leading 43-31 late in the half, Macalester closed out the period with a 7-1 run on four free throws from junior forward
Wyatt Ferm (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) and a buzzer-beating three by first year guard
Gabriel Ramos (Dorado, Puerto Rico/Tasis Dorado) to make the halftime score 44-38 Gustavus. Ferm had 14 points in the first half for the Scots, while Jason Faul also tallied 14 points for the Gusties.
Early in the second half, Gustavus led by as many as 10 points and held a 57-48 advantage with 15:40 to play when Macalester made its push. Three-pointers by senior guard

Jackson Henningfield (Lake Mary, Fla./Lyman) sparked a 13-5 run that made it a one-point game, 62-61 with 13 minutes remaining.
After the teams exchanged a pair of free throws, the Gusties tallied the next eight points as a part of a 14-3 spree for a 77-66 lead. Toner-Rodgers answered with his third three-pointer of the game, but Gustavus out-scored Macalester 21-10 over the final eight minutes to wrap up the win. The Scots scored 24 points off 18 Gustavus turnovers, but the Gusties shot 60.3 percent from the field compared to 44.6 percent for Macalester.
Henningfield finished with 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field to lead the Scots. Ferm had 18 points and four assists, while Toner-Rodgers and Olson added nine points apiece. Faul led all scorers with 25 points, and Kelsey Thomas notched 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
Macalester plays the first of three straight road games on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at St. Olaf College. The MIAC game begins at 7:45 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
