WINONA, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost to Saint Mary's today, 73-45. the Scots are now 5-9 and 2-6 in the MIAC.
In their third game in a week, sophomore guard
Tyana Loiselle started the Scots of with a jumper, scoring eight total. However, Macalester fell behind early in the first quarter with the period ending 11-17 in favor of the Cardinals. The Scots were unable to gain any momentum senior center
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./Helena) leading the Scots with 16 points and eight rebounds. At halftime, Saint Mary's led 16-41 with three of Macalester's starters in foul trouble.
The Scots could not catch up with Saint Mary's in the second half, ending the third quarter 60-32. Macalester continued to be outscored by Saint Mary's and despite an excellent all-team rebounding effort, 38 on the night, the Scots lost 45-73.
The Cardinals were led by Alexa Huisman who scored 17 points on the night.
The Scots return to action home against Martin Luther College on Mon., Jan. 15 in Saint Paul, Minn. at 7:00 p.m at the Leonard Center.
