DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Macalester College men's soccer team played the University of Dubuque to a scoreless draw in double overtime Friday night at Oyen Field. The Scots are now 3-2-1 on the season, while the Spartans move to 4-1-1.
Macalester held a slight 14-13 edge in shots for the game, with junior midfielder
Seth Kofman (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) leading the way with three shots on frame. At the end of the first overtime period, a Dubuque player was sent off due to a second yellow card, giving the Scots a one-man advantage. Macalester put two shots on goal in the final 10 minutes but were unable to break the scoreless tie.
Junior goalkeeper
Colton Wenig (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) registered four saves for his second straight shutout for the Scots. Brandon White made five saves for the Spartans.
Macalester returns to Iowa for a non-conference match-up with Wartburg on Sunday, Sept. 17, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Waverly, Iowa.
