ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team fell to visiting Concordia College, 66-56 in a MIAC game Saturday afternoon in the Leonard Center. The loss marks the sixth in a row for the Scots, who drop to 9-12 overall and 3-11 in league play. The Cobbers improve to 7-14, 4-10 MIAC.
Early in the first quarter, Macalester used a 10-0 sparked by six points from junior center
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./Helena) to lead 15-8. That proved to be the largest lead of the first half, as Concordia eventually came back to tie the score at 19-19 with 9:41 to play in the second quarter. A pair of free throws by senior forward
Park Masterson (Poway, Calif./Poway) late in the second quarter put the Scots up, 33-27 before a three from Casey Rahman made the score 33-30 Macalester with 1:21 left. Junior guard
Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) answered for the Scots with a three-pointer to make the halftime score 36-30. Macalester held the Cobbers to 28.1 percent shooting from the field while making 45.2 percent in the first half.
In the third quarter the Scots went cold from the field, hitting just one of their nine field goal attempts to allow Concordia to use a 15-6 run and take a 45-42 lead at the end of three. A conventional three-point play by first year guard

Tyana Loiselle (Bloomer, Wis./Chippewa Falls) tied the score at 47-47 with 9:17 remaining in the game. But the Cobbers tallied the next six points, and the Scots never came closer than four points the rest of the way. Concordia ended up outscoring Macalester, 36-20 after halftime, shooting 41.7 percent from the floor compared to 20.7 percent for the Scots.
Fruh finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks before fouling out with seven minutes to play. Gregorich tallied 14 points and three assists, while senior guard
Lauren Clamage (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) contributed 13 points. Masterson grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. Concordia was led by Greta Walsh with 18 points and four assists.
Macalester plays another MIAC contest on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Carleton College. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
