Men’s Soccer: No. 21 Macalester Beats St. Olaf, 2-0

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team used a pair of second-half goals to defeat St. Olaf College on the road, 2-0 in a MIAC game Saturday afternoon at Rolf Melby Field. The Scots improve to 7-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while the Oles fall to 2-9, 2-4 MIAC.

After a scoreless first half, junior midfielder Seth Kofman (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) received a cross from first year forward Floyd Krom (Naaldwijk, Netherlands/UWC-Costa Rica) and scored to break the scoreless tie. Then in the 89th minute, Macalester tallied an insurance goal when junior defender Logan Harper (Westwood, Mass./St. Mark's School) found the net off an assist from senior forward Danny Baumann (Waterford, Wis./Muskego) to make the final score 2-0.

The Scots held a 13-7 edge in shots taken but put eight shot on goal compared to none for St. Olaf. Junior Colton Wenig (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) and first year Cade Fink (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) split the goalkeeping duties for Macalester, while Ben Westermeyer made six saves for the Oles.

The Scots continue MIAC play with a home game against Augsburg on Wednesday, Oct. 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
