WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Macalester College men's soccer team, ranked 20th nationally, played No. 19 UW-Whitewater to a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon at Fiskum Field. The result leaves both teams with a 1-0-1 record on the season.
Macalester opened the scoring in the 48th minute, when junior defender
Colby King (Newcastle, N.H./Governor's Academy) found the net off an assist from junior midfielder
Tristan Springer (Seattle, Wash./Edmonds, Wash./Meadowdale). Justin Stanko's goal in the 61st minute tied the game for the Warhawks, who were out-shot by the Scots, 16-12 in regulation. Neither team scored over the next 49 minutes, as the teams each put one shot on goal the rest of the way.

Zeke Vainer (Melrose, Mass./Melrose) registered two saves for Macalester, while UWW-Whitewater's Chris Lucatorto made three saves.
The Scots host Wartburg College on Monday, Sept. 5 in a non-conference game. The match starts at 4:00 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
