Women’s Soccer: Macalester Falls at St. Kate’s in Double Overtime

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team lost a MIAC game to St. Catherine University in double overtime, 2-1 Wednesday afternoon at St. Kate's Fields. The result drops the Scots to 4-2-3 overall and 0-2-2 in the conference, while the Wildcats improve to 6-1-1, 2-0-1 MIAC.

St. Catherine's opened the scoring with a goal by Hannah Okerstrom in the 41st minute. Junior forward Jaime Hasama (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) tied the score for Macalester with an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute for her second goal of the season. The game remained knotted at 1-1 until late in the second overtime period, when Okerstrom headed in her second goal of the game to give the Wildcats the victory in the 108th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Rachel Wilson-King (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory) registered seven saves in goal, as the Scots were outshot, 34-25 for the game. Tayler Koop had 10 saves for the Wildcats.

Macalester continues MIAC play with a game at St. Olaf on Saturday, Oct. 1. The game is set to start at 1:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
