NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team defeated Carleton, 67-59 in an exciting MIAC battle on Wednesday evening at West Gym. The Scots overcame a fourth quarter deficit to send the game into overtime and outscored the Knights 13-5 in OT to grab this season's third conference win. Macalester improves to 8-14 overall and 3-12 in league play. Carleton falls to 4-18 overall and 1-14 in the MIAC.

 After a strong first half, the Scots led Carleton 25-21. The Knights battled back in the third quarter, holding Macalester to 10 points and taking the lead with just over three minutes remaining. Carleton continued to dominate in the fourth, taking their largest lead of the night (12) at the 6:27 mark.

Macalester made a run late in the fourth, sparked by
Lauren Clamage (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest Academy) who scored eight points in the final four minutes and connected on a three-pointer to bring the Scots within one point (52-51). Down by one with 30 second remaining, Macalester fouled and sent Carleton's Michele Arima to the line. Arima knocked down both free throw attempts to increase the lead to three.

After a timeout called by Head Coach
Kelly Roysland, the Scots inbounded the ball from the sideline and hit
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif. / Branson School) on an open look from three-point range. Gray connected on the shot to tie the game at 54-54. The Scots were able to get a stop on the defensive end and send the game into overtime.

Macalester set the tone early in overtime, scoring the first seven points and holding the Knights to just five in extra play.Â
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena) scored seven points in overtime and finished with a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds. Clamage finished with 15 points and Gray added 13 after connecting on three of seven shots from beyond the arc.

Senior guard
Erin Murray (Sparta, Wis. / Sparta) and sophomore center
Emilie McGuire (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine Township South) each pulled down 10 rebounds on the night. Murray finished with eight points and McGuire added five points and five crucial offensive boards.

The Scots outrebounded the Knights, 57-45 and shot 33% from the field to Carleton's 30%.

Macalester will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 13 when they take on St. Kate's at 3 p.m. in the Leonard Center. Saturday will serve as Senior Day where
Katelyn Kack and
Erin Murray will be honored prior to tipoff in celebration of their careers. The Scots will also celebrate Think Pink on Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the Play 4 Kay Foundation.
