ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team battled 12th-ranked St. Thomas in a key MIAC match-up, losing 1-0 Saturday night at Macalester Stadium. The Scots drop to 5-3-3 overall and 1-3-2 in conference play, while the Tommies remain unbeaten at 9-0-1, 4-0-1 MIAC.
St. Thomas scored the only goal of the game on the first shot of the game. Shelby Stalberger headed home a corner kick from Hailey Zweber in the seventh minute for a 1-0 lead. Macalester put seven shots on goal, including six in the second half, but were unable to net the equalizer despite having the advantage in shots and possession. Senior midfielder
Rae Hohle (Aurora, Ill./Illinois Math & Science) took four shots, including three on goal.

Emma Toomer (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) recorded one save in goal for the Scots, while Tarynn Theilig made all seven saves for the shutout.
Macalester continues MIAC play on Tuesday, Oct. 11 with a game at Saint Mary's, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Winona, Minn.
