MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team played Augsburg College to a 1-1 tie in a MIAC match Saturday night at Edor Nelson Field. The results leaves the Scots with a 10-3-3 record, including a 4-2-2 mark in the conference. The Auggies are now 5-9-2, 2-4-2 MIAC.
Macalester took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, when junior forward
Danny Baumann (Waterford, Wis./Muskego) found the net off assists from sophomore midfielder
Clayton Smith (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and senior
Charlie Spurr (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt). But Augsburg was able to tie the score in the 61st minute on a goal by Lionel Vang. The Scots put four shots on goal over the remainder of regulation and the two overtime periods but were unable to net the game-winner.

Zeke Vainer (Melrose, Mass./Melrose) registered eight saves, with Augsburg's Clark Page making 12 saves. Macalester outshot the Auggies, 24-20 for the game.
Macalester continues its MIAC schedule with a road game at Saint John's on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Collegeville, Minn.
