ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team picked up a non-conference victory at Crown College, 25-13, 25-16, 25-20 Monday night. The Scots improve to 8-11 on the season, while the Storm drops to 1-19.
Macalester hit a season-best .351 for the match, including .429 with 16 kills in the second set. Senior setter
Brooke Hunter (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) tallied seven kills in the second set, while Hunter and senior middle hitter
Caitlyn O'Neil (Carmichael, Calif./Rio Americano) each had four kills in the third set. Crown came as close as 15-13 in the third set, but the Scots reeled off four straight points to effectively put the set out of reach.
Hunter finished with a match-high 12 kills to go with 11 assists, while O'Neil tallied nine kills and a .533 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter
India Medaris (Napa, Calif./Justin Siena) added eight kills without an error for a .615 hitting percentage, with senior setter
Samantha Bongiorno (Richardson, Texas/Shelton School) delivering 17 assists. First year libero
Alexis Foret (Copperas Cove, Texas/Copperas) paced the defense with 17 digs.
Macalester returns to MIAC play with a home match against Gustavus Adolphus. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
