NEW ULM, Minn. – After seeing its seven-match winning streak end last week, the Macalester College volleyball team returned to its winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Martin Luther College Monday night at the MLC Gym. With the win the Scots improve to 11-2 on the season, while the Knights drop to 1-13.
Macalester, which won by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-23, hit .231 for the match while holding MLC to a hitting percentage of .102. Sophomore outside hitter
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) delivered 13 kills and 11 digs for her fourth straight double-double. Junior outside hitter
Brooke Hunter (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) gave the Scots a lethal 1-2 punch with 11 kills against one error in 27 attempts for a hitting percentage of .370.
Seniors
Kasey McMaster (Oak Ridge, Tenn./Oak Ridge) and
Arianna Hesterberg (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor) shared the setting duties, dishing out 19 and 14 assists, respectively. Senior libero
Cora Trout (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) registered 20 digs to pace the defense.
Moriah Hackbarth and Jade St. Germaine led the Knights with 10 kills apiece.
Macalester returns to MIAC play on Wednesday, Sept. 23 with a home match against St. Benedict. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
