ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Bethel forced Macalester into 24 turnovers and held the Scots to a 23% field goal average to gain a 65-41 conference victory Wednesday evening
Macalester entered the half down by 13 (30-17) after going on an eight to two run in the final two minutes. The Royals came out with some fire to start the second, increasing their lead to 19 before five straight points by
Lauren Clamage and a jumper by
Grace Dickman drew the Scots within 13 again (40-27) at the 12:53 mark.
Macalester was unable to hold Bethel off for long, allowing the Royals to take their largest lead of the game (25) at the 9:12 mark and coast to a 65-41 final victory.
Sophomore guard
Lauren Clamage led the Scots with 14 points on the night, shooting five of nine from the field.
Regan Fruh and
Erin Murray each pulled down seven rebounds. Murray dished out a game-high five assists.
Rachel Parupsky led Bethel, scoring 17 points and finishing with seven blocks and four steals.
Macalester falls to 3-19 overall and 0-15 in the MIAC. Bethel stretches their winning-streak to 10 and improves to 18-4 overall and 12-3 (2nd place) in conference action.
Macalester will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 14 as they host St. Catherine University in their final home game of the 2014-15 season. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday marks the 2015 Think Pink game. All proceeds received at the game will go toward the Play for Kay Foundation.      Â
