ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A slow first half performance by Macalester and a hot shooting St. Catherine's team resulted in an 89-80 victory by the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in the Leonard Center.
Down by 15 at the half (31-46), the Scots were able to turn it around in the second, cutting St. Kate's lead to three at the 7:30 mark (63-66). Macalester was forced to foul as time expired and the Wildcats were able to find success at the line, ending the game with a nine-point advantage.
Regan Fruh led the Scots with a career-high 33 points. Fruh shot an impressive 14 of 18 from the field and finished with 10 rebounds to record her second double-double of the season.
Erin Murray and
Lauren Clamage also finished with 10 points apiece on the night. Clamage went a perfect eight for eight from the free throw line. Murray dished out a team-high six assists.
Grace Dickman had three steals and nine points for the Scots.
LaShay Holt led all players for St. Kate's, finishing with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and six steals.
Macalester falls to 3-20 overall and 0-16 in the MIAC. St. Catherine improves to 8-15 overall and 3-13 in conference action.
The Scots will return to play on Wednesday, Feb. 18 as they travel to St. Peter, Minn. to take on Gustavus Adolphus at 7 p.m.
