ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team hosted Gustavus Adolphus in a final MIAC contest before heading into the holiday break. The Gusties jumped out to a 23-point lead in the first half and overcame the Scots' second-half run to secure a 67-55 final victory.

Macalester drops to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in the MIAC. Gustavus improves to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in conference action.

The Gusties shot 50% from the field in the first half and forced the Scots into 14 turnovers. Macalester battled in the final twenty minutes, outscoring the Gusties in both the third and fourth quarters to cut the final deficit to 12.

Sophomores
Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo. / Boulder) and
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont. / Helena) led the Scots offensively, each finishing with 13 points. Gregorich made three of six shots from beyond the arc and dished out a team-best five assists. Fruh pulled down 12 rebounds to secure her third double-double of the season.

Gustavus was led in scoring by Mikayla Miller and Lindsey Johnson who each scored 15 points.

Macalester will return to action on January 6, 2016 when they travel to St. Joseph, Minn. to take on the College of St. Benedict. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. Â
