ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team hosted Bethany Lutheran in Monday night non-conference action at the Leonard Center. The Scots took an early lead, but the Vikings were able to hang around resulting in a tied score of 81-81 at the end of regulation. Macalester scored 16 points in the five-minute overtime to secure a 97-88 victory.

With the win, the Scots improve to 4-2 overall this season as they head into Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Bethany Lutheran falls to 2-3 overall this season.

The Scots jumped out to an early lead after an impressive first quarter sparked by junior
Lauren Clamage (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest Academy). Clamage knocked down three of four shots from beyond the arc and five of seven from the field to score 19 points in just the first 20 minutes of action. On the night, Clamage finished with a career-high 28 points after connecting on six three-point baskets.

Four more Macalester players finished with double-digit point totals. Sophomore guard
Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo. / Boulder) finished with 19 points after making three shots from beyond the arc and all six free throw attempts. Junior forward
Park Masterson (Poway, Calif. / Poway) added 16 points on eight of 10 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds.

Senior guard
Erin Murray (Sparta, Wis. / Sparta) added 13 points and dished out a game-high eight assists. Sophomore
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif. / Branson School) finished with 11 points, eight of them coming in overtime.

The Scots outshot Bethany Lutheran in both categories, making 47% of attempts from the field and 43% from three-point range. Â

Macalester will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2 as they open up MIAC play by hosting Hamline University at 7 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
