ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 victory at Bethel University in a MIAC contest Saturday afternoon at Ona Orth Soccer Complex. The Scots are now 10-2-4 overall and 7-1-3 in league play, while the Royals drop to 3-14, 0-11 MIAC.
The result puts Macalester in a three-way tie for second place with Gustavus Adolphus and Augsburg in the MIAC standings. Gustavus beat both the Scots and Auggies during the season to clinch the No. 2 seed in next week's MIAC Tournament, while Macalester's win over Augsburg gives the Scots the No. 3 seed and a home game against Concordia on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Sophomore forward
Jaime Hasama (Rancho Palos Verde, Calif./Peninsula) scored both goals for Macalester in the second half. Her first goal came in the 68th minute off an assist from senior midfielder
Lydia Chodosh (Los Angeles, Calif./Culver City). Hasama then tallied her team-leading ninth goal of the season with help from senior forward
Hannah Pollard-Garber (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) in the 81st minute to close out the win.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Wilson-King (Tuscon, Ariz/St. Gregory College Prep) registered her fourth consecutive shutout, making three saves in goal. The Scots outshot Bethel, 14-5.
Macalester begins play in the MIAC Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 3 against sixth-seeded Concordia. The quarterfinal game starts at 2:00 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
