ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sophomore forward
Jaime Hasama (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes) scored twice as the Macalester women's soccer team defeated Augsburg College, 2-0 in a MIAC game Saturday night at Macalester Stadium. The win moved the Scots (8-2-4, 5-1-3 MIAC) into a tie with the Auggies (11-5, 6-3 MIAC) for third place in the MIAC standings with 18 points apiece.
In the 11th minute, Hasama collected a pass from first year defender
Clara Webby (San Francisco, Calif./Urban School) and fired a shot over the keeper and into the goal for a 1-0 lead. The Scots controlled play and limited Augsburg's scoring chances into the second half.
With less than 20 minutes left in the game, junior midfielder
Rae Hohle (Aurora, Ill./Illinois Math & Science) crossed the ball towards the goal to Hasama, who headed the ball over goalkeeper Marissa Guillou and into the goal for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Wilson-King (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory College Prep) registered three saves for her second consecutive shutout. Guillou made four saves for Augsburg.
The Scots play their final regular-season home game on Wednesday, Oct. 28 when they host St. Benedict in an important MIAC match-up. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
