COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- Macalester went scoreless for nearly 13 minutes in the first as St. John's turned a five-point deficit into a 17-point lead en route to a 72-41 victory.
Kyle Bernhard score eight of the Scots' first 10 points and the visitors held a 12-7 lead when
Kareem Ismail scored his only basket of the half with 13:10 remaining in the opening stanza.
Over the next 12 minutes, 52 seconds, the Johnnies went on a 22-0 run, getting 10 points off turnovers, and they carried a 33-13 lead into halftime.
St. John's then opened the second half with a 10-2 run in the first 4:12 of the session and would eventually stretch the lead to 35 with 10:43 to play in the game.
Ismail scored 10 points in the second half to finish with a team-high 12 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. Bernhard had 11 points for the game, nine of which came from beyond the three-point arc.
After two road games on the week, Macalester returns home, Saturday, for a 3 p.m. contest with Carleton at the Leonard Center.
