Macalester Volleyball: Scots Split at Macalester Invitational Day One, Defeat Beloit & Fall to UW-Stout

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College volleyball team finished day one of action at the Macalester Volleyball Invitational with a three-set win over Beloit College (25-13, 25-19 and 25-23) and a three-set loss to the University of Wisconsin-Stout (25-18, 25-18 and 25-21).

Macalester College moves to 5-3 overall this season. The Scots will continue action tomorrow morning (Saturday, Aug. 6) as they take on the University of Minnesota Morris at 10 a.m. for their final match at the Macalester Invitational.

Lynn Zemaitis (Gurnee, Ill.) led Macalester in this evening's first match against Beloit College as she collected ten kills and notched a .533 attack percentage.

Samantha Bongiorno (Richardson, Tex.) added 22 assists on the night.

The Scots were led defensively by Clara Bauman (Wausau, Wis.) and Cora Trout (Columbia, Mo.) who had 15 and 11 digs respectively.

Against the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Bauman was the offensive leader for Macalester as she posted eight kills. Zemaitis and India Medaris (Napa, Calif.) each finished with six in the match.
