Macalester Volleyball: Scots Defeat Martin Luther College 3-1

Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College volleyball team took the court at Alumni Gymnasium for the second night in a row as they hosted Martin Luther College in a 7 p.m. non-conference match-up. The Scots took on the Knights of Martin Luther College for the second time this season. After falling to the Knights at the St. Olaf Invitational, the Scots came out ready for redemption. Macalester took the match in four sets, winning 25-19, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-19.

Macalester improves to 4-2 overall in the 2014 season. Martin Luther falls to 2-3 on the year.
 
Brooke Hunter (Stillwater, Minn.) finished with a team-high 14 kills in the match and added in seven digs for the Scots.
 
Lynn Zemaitis (Gurnee, Ill.) was the second Scot to post a double-digit kill total as she collected 12 on the night. Zemaitis added in three block assists.
 
Sophomore setter Samantha Bongiorno (Richardson, Tex.) finished with 29 assists in the match and Arianna Hesterberg (Kenmore, Wash.) followed up with 14.
 
Clara Bauman (Wausau, Wis.) and libero Cora Trout (Columbia, Mo.) each tallied 21 digs on the defensive end.
 
The Scots will return to action as they host the Macalester Volleyball Invitational this weekend, Sept. 5 and 6. They are set to take on Beloit College at 6 p.m. on Friday and the University of Wisconsin-Stout at 8 p.m.
