Box Score PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Zeke Vainer recorded seven saves and Macalester escaped Pioneer Stadium wth a scoreless draw against Wisconsin-Platteville.
The Scots, who were outshot, 15-9, recorded the only shot on goal of either overtime session when
Austin Burrows forced Pioneer goalkeeper Scott Sibik to make a save one minute, 15 seconds, into the first overtime.
"Tonight was a difficult game for us," Macalester head coach
Gregg Olson said. "We tried to play, but Platteville did a great job of making the field tight. To their credit, they were really good on the night and I thought we were average. To come away with a draw on the road isn't a bad result.
"The tough part is having to regroup and travel to Decorah to play an excellent Luther team
tomorrow," Olson added. "They had the week off and they're the 22nd-ranked team in the country. We will have to be exceptional to get a result."
The Scots and Norse are slated to play at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, at Luther's Carlson Stadium.
