Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- Macalester found itself trailing in the middle of the opening set but stormed back to claim a 25-16, 25-11, 25-16 win over Crown in a non-conference match.
The Storm scored the first two points of the match and would lead, 11-9, in the first set when the Scots called a timeout. Macalester regrouped and the two teams battle evenly until the Scots regained serve, trailing 16-15.
Clara Bauman went onto serve out the first set while
Hannah Rehak had three kills and two block assists among Macalester's final 10 points.
The second set saw the visitors run out to a 9-1 lead and never look back in a 14-point win.
Brooke Hunter had four kills in the second set and
Samantha Bongiorno tallied seven assists, a kill and two service aces.
Much like the first set, Macalester struggled at times and saw five ties and two lead changes in the set but an 11-1 run, on the serivce of
Emma Lehman and
Regan Fruh, turned the tide. Bauman had four of her five kills in the set to spark the 10-point swing.
Bauman had 10 kills and three block assists on the night while
Brooke Hunter also had 10 kills and hit. 467.
Bongiorno had 22 assists and 10 digs for the Scots and
Arianna Hesterberg added 11 assists.
Cora Trout had a match-high 25 digs.
Macalester returns to action, Saturday and Sunday, as they take part in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Tournament at Grinnell. Saturday, the Scots take on Luther at 2 p.m. and Knox at 4 p.m. before facing Lake Forest and Grinnell on Sunday in back-to-back matches at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
