Box Score 2 NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team secured their first wins of the 2014 season as they triumphed over Bethany Lutheran College in three straight sets to kick off day two at the St. Olaf Invitational. The Scots took down Bethany Lutheran 25-22, 25-19 and 25-18. Macalester kept the momentum going, taking down Crown College in three straight sets (25-20, 25-4 and 25-18) to finish off the tournament.
Macalester now holds a 2-2 overall record this season. The Scots resume play on Tuesday, Sept. 2 as they host their home opener against North Central University at 7 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
Recap vs. Bethany Lutheran:
Clara Bauman took charge in today's first match, collecting ten kills and hitting a .529 percentage. Bauman earned her first double-double of the season after also adding 13 digs in the three-set match.
Brooke Hunter tallied eight kills, while Lynn Zemaitis added seven.
The Scots finished with six total team blocks and hit a .242 attack percentage in the match.
Recap vs. Crown:
Clara Bauman and Lynn Zemaitis kept the offensive force going in the Scots' second match of the day as Bauman posted eight kills and Zemaitis followed up with seven.
Sophomore defensive specialist, Emma Lehman finished with a team-high seven digs in the match.
Junior Arianna Hesterberg finished with eight service aces in the match to elevate the team's total to 12.
