ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team is set to host Concordia College in their final 2014 home match at the Leonard Center's Alumni Gymnasium on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. The Scots have suffered from a late-season drought and are hoping to end the 2014 season on a high note. The Scots will conclude their regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1 as they travel to Augsburg College for an 11 a.m. match-up.
Records:Macalester, 8-18 overall, 0-9 MIAC
Concordia, 11-11 overall, 4-5 MIAC
Augsburg, 20-4 overall, 8-1 MIAC
Last Meeting:The Scots last took on the Cobbers of Concordia Moorhead on Oct. 22 of last season. Concordia held onto their first place spot in the MIAC with a three-set win over the Scots. This season, the Cobbers are coming off a three-set loss to Gustavus and a four-set win over St. Olaf to hold a 9th place spot in the MIAC standings.
Macalester last faced Augsburg on Oct. 26 of the 2013 season. Holding a 23rd national rank at that time, the Auggies swept Mac in three sets. This season Augsburg sits in first place in the MIAC, tied with St. Thomas at 8-1 in conference play.
Looking Back:The Scots are coming off a tough four-set loss to St. Catherine University on Satuday, Oct. 25, dropping the first set and coming back to win set two before being retired in sets three and four. 20 tied scores and seven lead changes made for a hard-fought loss, however, poor hitting percentages in sets one and three allowed the Wildcats to secure the win.
Brooke Hunter and
Regan Fruh led the offensive attack for Macalester. Hunter finished with nine kills in the match and recorded three service aces. Fruh totaled eight kills on the day and added three block assists.
Where They Stand:Junior libero
Cora Trout sits in seventh place on the MIAC total digs chart. Trout has collected 452 digs this season, averaging 5.32 per set to lead Macalester on the defensive end.
Clara Baumann leads Macalester in total kills with 198 this season, averaging 2.33 per set. Baumann also holds the top hitting percentage for the Scots.
Samantha Bongiorno leads the Scots in service aces having collected 34 this season. Bongiorno also has a team-high 366 assists this year.

Regan Fruh has totaled a team-high 60 total blocks on the year.
