HOW IT HAPPENED•
Max Abramson made just his third start of the year and, in doing so, recorded his third goal of the season when he knocked home a loose ball in front of the net om the game's 28th minute.
• Matthew Fulks tied the game in the 59th minute when a series of shots led to a scramble and, when the ball came to Fulks on the left side of the six-yard box, he banged home his third goal of the season.
• With the game on the verge of overtime, Zach Moore, playing just his second game in seven weeks, stepped up and buried a chance set up by Ionatan Kuperwajs with just 44 seconds to play.NOTES• With Augsburg having fallen to St. Olaf just minutes before Moore's game-winning goal, the Scots had already clinched a spot in the MIAC playoffs.
• Moore came off the bench to record a game-high four shots.• The win gives Macalester a 3-1-1 record in its last five MIAC games.
• The Scots dominated the game with an 11-1 advantage in shots in the first half and a 21-6 advantage for the game.
• After being 3-3-1 at one point this season, Macalester has gone 7-2-1 in its last 11 games, winning 10 games for the first time since 2011.
• This will be the Scots' first MIAC playoff appearance since 2010, when they went 14-3-2 during the regular season and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA playoffs.
HEAD COACH GREGG OLSON'S COMMENTS• On Concordia's game plan: "In the first half, Concordia did a very good job drawing a line and keeping play in front of them. They made it very difficult to break them down. We did create a couple of chances and one resulted in a goal.
Max Abramson played the attacking midfield role in the absense of
Alan Schembri-Wismayer and did a job in the game. His goal was very well deserved."
• On the Cobbers' change in the second half: "The second half was much different. Concordia came out and put pressure on the game and, credit to them as they played very well and their goal was well taken."
• Discussing the play of Concordia goalkeeper Ben Glogoza: "He was tremendous. He made three or four very good saves. Two of them it seemed as if he pulled out just as you thought the ball was going into the back of the net."
• Talking about Moore's return: "It was great to finally get Zach back into the lineup. We've missed him for most of the year. He is a dynamic attacking player who makes the game look easy at times. To score the game winner with less than a minute left is such a sweet return to play!"
• Looking ahead: "This win got us into the playoffs, it was a huge result! Which seed we end up is the question. We can finish in fourth or fifth place. To host next Tuesday would be great, so we have to put everything into our match against St. Mary's on Saturday night."
UP NEXT• It will be Senior Night as Macalester hosts its final game of the regular season, Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. as the Scots take on Saint Mary's.
