Macalester Volleyball: Scots to face St. Kate’s in MIAC play

ST. PAUL, Minn. – After a week of being idle, the Macalester College volleyball team will return to action on Saturday as they travel to St. Catherine University to compete in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against the Wildcats. Suffering from a six-match losing streak, the Scots are looking to put an end to their late season drought.
 
Records:
Macalester, 8-27 overall, 0-8 MIAC
St. Catherine, 9-14 overall, 0-7 MIAC
 
Last Meeting:
The Scots last met up with St. Catherine on Oct. 19, 2013 as Macalester swept the Wildcats in three straight sets. This season, St. Kate's is currently suffering from a seven-match losing streak.
 
Looking Back:
The Scots are coming off a weekend triangular hosted by Carleton College, with UW- La Crosse filling in the third team spot. The Scots dropped both matches in straight sets, but put up a fight against UW- La Crosse as the match concluded with 16 tied scores and four lead changes throughout the three-set loss. Clara Baumann was a bright spot for the Scots throughout the weekend, leading the way offensively in kills both matches.
 
Where They Stand:
Junior libero Cora Trout keeps her spot on the MIAC individual statistical leaders board as she sits in fourth place on the digs per set chart, averaging 5.32/set. Trout also appears in fourth place on the total digs leader board, totaling 431 on the year.
 
As a team, Macalester ranks second in the conference in service aces as the Scots have accumulated 167 this season.

Up Next:
Following the Scots match against St. Catherine, Macalester will return home on Wednesday, Oct. 29 for their final match at the Leonard Center this season. They will take on Concordia College at 7p.m. The Cobbers currently sit in ninth place in the MIAC holding a 10-10 overall record and a 3-4 MIAC mark.
