Women's Soccer: Walker's goal gives Macalester double OT win at Gustavus

Scots win on Walker's goal in the 104th minute.

ST. PETER, Minn. -- Hannah Walker scored for the second consecutive game, notching her second goal of the season in the 104th minute, as Macalester claimed its second consecutive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory win a 1-0, double overtime win at Gustavus Adolphus.

The Scots went into overtime for the fifth time this season after dominating much of the game, outshooting the Gusties, 14-3, through 90 minutes with a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. However, only four of those 14 shots were on goal while the hosts put all three of their shots on goal and, before Walker's goal, the teams were tied, 4-4, in shots on goal.

In the first two minutes of the second overtime, Gustavus Adolphus were record on pair of shots and two corner kicks but the Scots finally took advantage of a scoring chance when Hannah Pollard-Garber, who had a game-high five shots, set up Walker for the game-winning goal.

Emma Toomer made four saves in recording her third shutout of the season while the Scots remained within striking distance of sixth place and a spot in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs as they sit in eighth place with 10 points, three behind sixth-place St. Olaf.

Before returning to conference action for its final three games of the season, Macalester will take a trip to Wisconsin-Whitewater, Tuesday, for a 7 p.m. non-conference game with the Warhawks.
